Actor Debdutta Banerjee found dead in Kolkata home

Actress Debdutta Banerjee, aka Arya Bandopadhyay, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her residence in Jodhpur Park, Kolkata, on Friday. According to sources, his maid informed the neighbors after getting no response despite repeated knocks on the door.

A police team soon arrived on the scene and forced the door open. According to police, Debdutta was found lying on the one-bedroom floor in her second-floor apartment of the three-story building. He had blood stains on his nose, but no other injuries, police said. She was taken to the SSKM hospital where doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival.

“The body has been sent for an autopsy. The cause of death can be determined only after the report is received, ”said an officer. The police have recovered two of his mobile phones. One of the phones was found to be turned off and her maid had tried to call her, police said.

Debdutta was the daughter of the renowned Sitarist, the late Pandit Nikhil Banerjee. Born in Kolkata, she was a model-turned-actress and also had a master’s degree in Hindustani classical music. He made his Bollywood debut in Dibakar Banerjee’s anthology film Love Sex Aur Dhokha (2010) and later appeared in the musical drama, The Dirty Picture (2011).
