Washington (United States) | Jagran News Post: The Food and Drug Administration of the United States (USA) on Saturday authorized the approval of the emergency use of the coronavirus vaccine Pfizer-BioNTech in the country. This comes a day after a panel of experts advising the FDA gave the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine its approval for emergency use approval in the US.

In a statement, the FDA said that the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, which has been shown to be 95 percent effective in preventing infection in a late-stage trial, can be given to people 16 years of age and older.

“I authorize the emergency use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19,” said Denise Hinton, FDA chief scientist.
