Kolkata Knight Riders beat Chennai Super Kings in a high scoring match last night as part of the IPL. Allout was all out for 202 in order to crack the 221-run victory target. It even shook Chennai at one stage. It seemed to be heading towards victory.
However, Dinesh Karthik (40), Russell (54) and Cummins (66) struggled in vain as the Thailanders shook hands. There are four players in the team. Nitish Rana (9), Rahul Tripathi (8), Captain Morgan (7) and Sunil Narine (4) failed miserably. Among the Chennai bowlers, Deepak Chahar took four wickets while Lungi Ngidi 3 and Sam Karan took one wicket each.
Chennai, who had batted first earlier, crossed the 200-run mark for the first time this season. Ruturaj Gaikwad (64), Duplessis (95, not out) led the way with a heroic boom. Both of them were bowled out. Boundaries are crossed as the balls fall. The Kolkata bowlers were unable to make any impact. Moin Ali (25) and skipper Dhoni (17) were out. Ravindra Jadeja was unbeaten on 6. Chennai lost three wickets in the allotted 20 overs and scored 220 runs.
Among the Kolkata bowlers, Chakraborty, Narine and Russell Chero took wickets. Du Plessis won the Man of the Match award for his performance in Chennai. Chennai, who have won four of their four matches so far, remain top with six points. The match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals will be played today.
