Internet Desk: The captains are facing a series of penalties for slow over rate during the IPL-14 season. Already, Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma have been fined Rs 12 lakh for slow over rate. Recently Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ian Morgan was also fined for slow over rate.
Morgan Sena, who bowled first in the match between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday, could not complete the overs within the allotted time. The IPL has announced a fine of Rs 12 lakh for the Kolkata captain for violating the code of conduct.
The BCCI has introduced a new set of rules from this season to check the slow over rate violations that have been common in the IPL over the past few years. According to these rules, each team must complete 20 overs within 90 minutes. Violation of this for the first time will result in a fine of Rs 12 lakh for the captain of the team concerned and a fine of Rs 24 lakh for the second offense. If this is repeated a third time, the captain will be banned for one match.
