First hands-on images of the OnePlus 9 leaked along with key specs

It’s not uncommon for OnePlus flagships to be on the radar for leaks ahead of launch. The company recently made the next flagship for 2021 official at the Qualcomm event. Although he did not reveal the names, based on the numbers, it will likely be the OnePlus 9 series along with a new 9E. Today, Phonearena brings us the first real-life hands-on image of the non-Pro variant.

CAD rendering OnePlus 9

Citing anonymous sources, the report shows multiple images of what is supposedly a pre-production unit. Said to be the OnePlus 9 5G, the report has been supported also by tipsters like Max Jambor. First of all, the model number of the device is LE2117, which contradicts previous leaks that said it could be from the OnePlus 9 Pro. Below, the images show a device whose rear panel is colored silver.

Also, the camera module in the device is similar to previous CAD versions that have triple cameras, two large sensors, and a smaller one. There is an LED flash next to the camera strip similar to OPPO’s Reno series of devices (for example, Reno4 Pro). The rounded rectangular design also has ‘ULTRASHOT’ written on it and the logo on the rear panel is not from OnePlus.

Up front, as you can see above, the device has a hole-punch display on the top left. In addition to claiming that it is similar to the OnePlus 8T, the report says that it is a 6.55-inch FHD + flat panel display. It supports HDR, has a 120Hz refresh rate, a 2400 × 1080 resolution, and a 20: 9 aspect ratio. What follows is a series of images to reveal the microphones (top, bottom), the SIM card, Type-C port, and speaker (on the bottom), along with the boot logo.

If the images along with the twists in the report are true, the device will have a metal frame made of aluminum and will have the ports and buttons in the usual locations. Anyway, other than the looks, the report also shows some screenshots of its interior. The LE2117 device apparently has a Lahaina board (hinting at Snapdragon 888), has 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and runs Android 11.

The screenshots also include details like the 12MP f / 1.88 rear camera and the 4MP f / 2.4 front camera. However, it could be a list of errors or indicate the actual output of the 48MP, 16MP quad-Bayer sensors respectively. Apart from this, the leaks above say that the OnePlus 9 will mostly not have an IP rating, unlike the Pro variant.
