While SUVs are in the trend, there is still a demand for hatchbacks. There are a few reasons for this. SUVs cost more and some people simply prefer the driving dynamics of a hatchback because they are closer to the ground and the body roll is well contained. There is also the easy entry and exit factor. For families that have seniors, getting into an SUV can be a bit challenging, while in hatchbacks they can slide effortlessly. Hyundai recently launched the new generation of i20. Even after an expensive price tag that could compete with compact SUVs, the i20 was able to gather 20,000 reservations in just 20 days. Maruti Suzuki Swift facelift
Maruti Suzuki launched a facelift for the Dzire earlier this year. It has a new modified front face, some new features, and a new engine. We hope the Swift gets the same facelift as well. So, expect it to come with a new aggressive front grille and a modified bumper. Maruti will offer its new 1.2-liter DualJet gasoline engine that produces 88 hp of maximum power instead of 82 hp. However, the torque output will remain the same at 113 Nm. The engine will be offered with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT.

Maruti Suzuki XL5
Maruti Suzuki WagonR has been quite a successful family hatchback. Recently, a premium version was spied on. You will get a more sophisticated look than the WagonR. It could be slightly above the Ignis. The XL5 will retain its tall boy design and will only be sold through Nexa dealers. It will be powered by the same 1.2-liter gasoline engine that we have seen in other Maruti Suzuki products. The engine produces 82 hp of maximum power and a maximum torque of 113 Nm. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT.
Maruti suzuki alto
Maruti Suzuki will finally launch a new generation Alto 800 that will compete against the Renault Kwid. It will share its HEARTECT platform with other Suzuki Maruti vehicles such as the S-Presso, WagonR and Ignis. It will be powered by an 800 cc three-cylinder engine that produces 47 hp of maximum power and 69 Nm of maximum torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Maruti suzuki celerio
Celerio was recently spied on with a completely new design. This has been done to give the old small hatchback a modern touch so that it can continue to compete in the Indian market. The front and rear of the hatchback are completely new and the interior is expected to be modified as well. It will continue to run on a 1.0-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 67 hp of maximum power and 90 Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or an AMT gearbox.
Tiago Turbo
With the Tiago JTP now discontinued, there is no high-performance variant of the Tiago available. Yes, the Altroz Turbo will launch soon, but it will be much bigger and more expensive. Tiago Turbo was recently seen being tested on the roads of India. We hope you get subtle design tweaks like decals and ductwork. It will be powered by the 1.2-liter Revotron gasoline engine that will also be available in the Altroz Turbo. The engine will produce around 110 hp of maximum power and 140 Nm of maximum torque. It will only be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Ford Focus
Ford will bring the Focus hatchback to India in CBU or Completely Built form. This means that 2,500 units will be allowed per year. The Focus competes with the Volkswagen Golf in international markets. The Ford Focus is 4,361mm long and has a 2,649mm wheelbase. This means that it will be larger than the compact SUVs that we see in our Indian market. In addition, it will be much more exclusive than other vehicles. It will be powered by a 1.0-liter turbocharged Ecoboost gasoline engine that will produce 125 hp. There will also be a 2.0-liter turbo unit available that will produce 160 hp of peak power.
Ford Focus ST
The Focus ST is the hot hatch version of the Focus. Ford will also bring the Focus ST as a CBU. You get a lot more performance-oriented features like rev adjustment, electronically limited slip differential, adaptive suspension with continuously controlled damping technology, dual exhaust tips, Recaro sports seats, etc. The Focus ST gets the 2.3-liter Ecoboost gasoline engine that we have also seen in the Mustang Ecoboost. The engine is capable of producing 280 hp of maximum power and a maximum torque of 420 Nm. It will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed automatic gearbox. It is expected to be priced at around Rs. 45 lakhs.
