Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, who made her foray into Bollywood with Raees alongside Shah Rukh Khan, tested positive for Covid-19. He shared the news on Instagram and said that although it has been “difficult”, he is hopeful that things will change for the better soon.

Mahira made her Bollywood debut with Rahul Dholakia’s Raees in 2017. She was unable to come to India to promote her film due to tense bilateral relations after the 2016 Uri attack. However, she joined one of the press meetings via video conference and said she was grateful for the response her character had received.

In the wake of the Uri attack, there is a ban on Pakistani artists in Bollywood. When Mahira was asked whether Indian artists should also be banned in Pakistan, she said it would achieve nothing. “I don’t think we’re going to solve anything by retaliating, and I think things won’t work out tit for tat,” he told a The News International event.
