Xiaomi is now rolling out the MIUI 12 stable update based on Android 11 on many phones.

MIUI 12 made its debut earlier this year, and Xiaomi, the leading smartphone maker in India by market share, has finished rolling out the stable update on most of the devices in its portfolio. Xiaomi is rolling out Global Stable MIUI 12 update for Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7S devices in India based on Android 10. Similarly, Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro are receiving MIUI 12 update, similarly it is based on Android 10. This is rumored to be the latest Android OS update on these devices, and none of them are likely to receive the Android 11 update.
The latest Xiaomi update offers a number of new features that will run on both Android 11 and 10 MIUI 12. The latest updates include:
- On-screen fingerprint effects
- Haptic fingerprint feedback
- Toast notifications
- Volume control for all devices
- Reworked Quick Settings
- Status bar in bold
- Font changes in system applications
Fingerprint-on-Display effects include a new fingerprint vibration effect with a new volume bar for all devices. It has the latest toasted notifications with a bold status bar, quick update of the settings icon, and new fonts for some system apps.
Power saving optimization has been updated. There is now a power rating that shows the power consumption of hardware and software separately. There are also some power saving tips that help extend battery life with just one click. The device will detect abnormal power consumption and a performance update option to display “battery and power saving”.
