The NaredMitt result, which stood out in the previous election results, was revealed on Wednesday morning. TRS candidate Meena Upender Reddy won the NaredMit 136th Division with a majority of 782 votes. With the High Court giving the green signal to count the technically stagnant Naredmit Division votes during the previous counting, the authorities started counting the votes of that division at 8 am on Wednesday. The counting of votes took place at Bhavans Vivekananda College in Sainikpuri. 544 votes with other marks were counted on Wednesday morning with the High Court verdict. Election officials later revealed that the TRS candidate had won with a majority of 782 votes. Out of 544 votes, TRS got 278 votes, BJP 115 and Congress 111 votes. 24,632 votes were counted against 25,176 votes across the Naredmit division. The rest of the votes were counted today. The TRS candidate is leading with a majority of 504 votes as of December 4. The state BJP Legal Cell in-charge filed a petition in the high court against the circular issued by the Election Commission to count votes with a seal other than the swastika symbol. The state Supreme Court on Monday agreed with the state Election Commission’s arguments. The court ruled that the returning officer had the final decision-making power under Rule 61 of the Election Rules, 2005, when voting on a ballot paper using marks other than the swastika mark, and ordered that the disputed votes be counted. TRS won by counting the votes and announcing the result. This brings the number of TRS corporators to 56. Related
