Nushrratt Bharuccha: we still have the ‘what will look good on the poster’ attitude, and we are not open to new casting in Bollywood – bollywood

Nushrratt Bharuccha feels that the influx of OTT platforms in India will lead to a major change. And it’s surprising that a mainstream movie actor readily admits it, considering that the numbers game was all that mattered until a few months ago.

“I really feel that OTTs will change, for the better, Indian audiences and the way they viewed movies. The content that is there as well, because now they will really like the movie for the movie, and not for the box office success of it, “he says.

The 35-year-old, who recently starred in Chhalaang alongside Rajkummar Rao, which premiered directly on an OTT platform. “There won’t be the extra influence of ‘arre itne paise kamaaye toh film achhi hogi.’ Zaroori nahi hai! The judgment for that will become real, and we will have a greater number of followers, which is more faithful to our art, to our sensitivity. I am very happy, ”she adds.

But even when changes like this occur, there are some things that Bharuccha has yet to see change, and one of them is that people are not willing to take risks with newer players.

She confesses that not everyone will agree with her or have an opinion on this, “The negative part, today personally is that we still have a very limited mentality in view of the casting. I feel like we are not open to a newer and different casting. We look forward to casting the same people for similar roles, in similar movies. I feel like they don’t trust the actors as much as they should, or they’re not opening their minds to see ‘aisa role iss ladke ya ladki ko karte nahi dekha hai’ ”.

A refreshing casting is what the actress is looking for, since all the actors according to her are talented and can bring something new to the characters. But what happens instead is this: “We still want to go with the ‘poster pe kya achha lagega’ attitude, which I think should change.”

Ask him where he comes from when he says this, and Bharuccha confesses that he is his own example. “They want to see me in similar romantic comedies. Now I have worked on some and I have a space of my own, but I also want to do other things. Why don’t you trust me that it will become a hit? Basically that. There are movies, I go out and try and I want to be a part of them. The answer I get is ‘maybe for a romantic comedy’. But I’m like ‘why not this?’ Before my rom-coms went well, people didn’t want to include me in it! “, He says.
