Oman to grant 10-day visa-free entry to 103 countries to boost tourism

DUBAI : Oman will exempt citizens of 103 counties from needing an entry visa for a stay of up to 10 days, police said Wednesday, in a move to support tourism and prop up its struggling economy.

Visitors must have a confirmed hotel reservation, medical insurance and a return ticket, the Royal Oman Police said on their Twitter account.

“Citizens of 103 counties are exempt from entry visas to the Sultanate for a period of ten days,” he said.

Oman said last week that it would resume granting tourist visas to people visiting on trips organized by hotels and travel companies, after they were suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Gulf state resumed international flights on October 1, but only citizens and people with existing valid work and residence visas were allowed to enter.

Oman, rated below investment grade by all major credit rating agencies, faces a growing deficit and large debt maturities in the coming years. It has recently embarked on a new fiscal plan to stop relying on oil revenues.
