People are rushing to Gamestop to buy the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Console fans are trying their luck again after another restock was announced. It has been a huge struggle for most Sony fans to get their hands on the latest console. Xbox Series X boxes have also been hard to come by. But all of this shortage hasn’t deterred the faithful in the least. PlayStation is on its way to having the most popular product this holiday season. Nothing has stopped the hype. In fact, most of the company’s various refills ended with consoles breaking in less than a minute. But, hope is everlasting after some very visible breakouts at Walmart and online at eBay. Xbox Director Phil Spencer spoke to The Verge about how toxic the response to the new consoles has been. The competition between Sony and Microsoft has been internalized over many years. Players have chosen sides and that kind of tribalism can be problematic.

“To be honest, I love the industry I’m in,” Spencer explained. “This is the job that I love. My wife will tell me that it is the only job that I am qualified for, but this is definitely the job that I love. But that tribalism in the industry, if there was anything that would ever take me out of the industry. That’s actually what you’re talking about. “
A previous resupply saw people sleeping outside hoping to take home the PS5. Sony’s social media accounts had to try to respond to protests about shortages in so many stores a few weeks ago.
“We want to thank gamers around the world for making the PS5 launch the biggest console launch to date,” said a statement from PlayStation social media. “The demand for PS5 is unprecedented, so we wanted to confirm that more PS5 inventory will hit retailers before the end of the year – stay in touch with your local retailers.”
