Actress Shilpa Shirodkar has opened up about her career and struggles in Bollywood, revealing how she got big, despite being called “jinx” when several of her big projects failed to get off the ground. Shilpa made her debut with Ramesh Sippy’s film Bhrashtachar (1989), and went on to appear in several successful films such as Khuda Gawah, Gopi Kishan, and Aankhen.
Speaking of her initial offerings, Shilpa revealed that her first film with Rajesh Khanna, Tina Munim, Jaya Prada, Sumeet Saigal, and Mr Sushil Kumar Shinde couldn’t be made. He went back to his studies only to return for a tentative Bollywood release alongside Sanjay Kapoor. However, that didn’t work either.
Shilpa told the Times of India: “At the time, everyone in the industry had called me ‘Jinxed’. But Rikkuji didn’t give up on me. He started showing my photos to everyone in the industry and I bagged Bhrashtachar and my Bollywood trip . Mithun Da helped me a lot, it was essential to get them erased from my jinx label. So yes, I did not come with all the luxuries and fantasies, but I made it. Honestly, for me, all my films are very dear to me. But yes, there are some movies that, had they been released, would have made a big difference in my career. Kalinga, which was directed by Dilip Saab, singer alongside Ajay Devgn, which was directed by Sunil Agnihotri, Ladies Only, which was produced by Kamal Hassan were some movies.
He also told the newspaper that his daughter is not a fan of his movies. “My daughter knows that her mother was an actress, she may have seen some of my movies, but she is not a fan of them. Film making has changed over time, she is a current generation girl, so she cannot relate to the movies that were made at the time, but she is extremely proud of me and my work, she saw me working on television and knows the hard work that goes into it. On it.”
Earlier this week, Shilpa had posted her daughter’s birthday. He shared a photo with her and wrote: “My little girl turns 17. Love and blessings to you, my dearest @anoushkaranjit. God bless you with every wish of yours come true you are my everything anoushki … you continue to make us so proud. Happy, happy, happy birthday, baby. “
Recalling her obscene songs, Shilpa told the newspaper: “I don’t regret anything in my life. I enjoyed my time as an actor in the 90’s. I have a lot of love and respect in this industry and in the world around me because of my work. And I will always be in debt to GOD for everything he has given me. “
