Shoaib Malik replaces injured Maqsood in Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad

Pakistan batsman Sohaib Maqsood has been ruled in the 2020 I20 Men’s T20 World Cup with former Shoaib Malik named as his replacement.

The news was confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board in a statement. Maqsood will miss the tournament due to a lower back injury.

A statement by top selector Muhammad Wasim read: “Sohaib is excited to miss out on the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup as he worked hard for this event and was in glowing form. We feel for him but he is injuries are an integral part of the sport. I’m sure that after recovery, it will completely improve to be available for future assignments. “

“In place and following discussions with the team’s management, we have decided to include Shoaib Malik in the side. I am sure Shoaib’s experience will be useful to the whole squad.”

The news will be a big blow for Pakistan, with Maqsood an integral part of their batting part. The selectors will nevertheless hope that Shoaib Malik’s furious experience with the bat and ball will be a great addition to the squad.

Pakistan will open their campaign at the T20 World Cup against India on October 24 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
