- Several Bollywood stars recently flew to Maldives
- “Glad they had a great holiday, they deserved it,” he said
- “It’s been a difficult time for everyone,” he added
Much has been said and written on the Internet about Bollywood stars vacationing during the pandemic. While it is difficult to ignore the spike in COVID-19 cases across the country at an alarming rate and the crumbling healthcare scenario, a section of Bollywood celebrities has been going out on holiday to the Maldives at a time when people are back home fighting for their lives. Among them are Alia Bhatt and her boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor (both recently recovered from the virus), Disha Patani, Tiger Shroff, Sara Ali Khan, Janhvi Kapoor and Pooja Bedi (who received a flap for a vacation in Goa). The Internet has labeled these celebratory holiday plans as “tone-deaf” and largely insensitive. Actress-singer Shrtuti Haasan seems to share a similar school of thought and feels that this may not be the best time frame to display “privileges in people’s faces.” The actress, in a recent interview with The Quint, said, “I personally didn’t feel it was time to go maskless in a pool.”
“Glad they had a great holiday, they deserved it. I personally didn’t feel it was time to go free in a pool. It’s been a difficult time for everyone and for some people much more. I think gratitude and being grateful for privileges is what is most important to know against throwing your privileges in people’s faces, “Shruti Haasan said during the interview without mentioning any names.
Apart from Shruti Haasan, Bollywood publisher Rohini Iyer and columnist Shobhaa De have also called Bollywood stars out on holiday in exotic locations, while a large portion of the country battles for basic amenities like oxygen and plasma cylinders.
Meanwhile, Shruti Haasan, in a recent Instagram post, wrote about how she is dealing with a pandemic and added, “I felt like stopping for a moment and acknowledging my concern – in my heart is a prayer for all who suffer and I’m reflecting on putting my little bit of good energy out towards the chaos. “He looked at his Instafam and wrote in his note,” Tell me how you feel – let’s try to help each other? Let me know if I need any information to share or anything we should be talking about? because this is a huge hug for you. “
