Study Links ADHD to Negative Professional Thoughts and Relationships with Parents

Washington (USA), December 13 (ANI): In a new study, potential links between quality of relationship with parents of high school students and dysfunctional or negative professional thoughts about ADHD were explored ( attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).
The study was published in the Career Development Quarterly. In the study of 102 adolescents (76 boys, 26 girls) with ADHD, the dysfunctional professional thoughts of the male participants were related to their relationships with their mothers.

Those who had positive relationships with their mothers showed less external conflict about their career choices. The findings may be helpful to professional counselors as they consider the influence of family relationships on the career choices of adolescents with ADHD.
Future research should incorporate the influence of gender and race / ethnicity in such relationships and also focus on parental relationships.
