Bengali actress Arya Banerjee, who starred in several Bollywood movies such as the critically acclaimed ‘The Dirty Picture’, was found dead at her residence in southern Kolkata on Friday, police said. Police broke down the door to her third-floor apartment and found the 33-year-old woman’s body lying in the bedroom.
Her maid became suspicious as she did not respond to doorbells or phone calls in the morning and informed neighbors that they called the police. Arya lived alone and supported herself, the housekeeper said.
Police said the body was sent for a post-mortem examination and a forensic team collected samples from his room.
“First of all, it seems there is no foul play. The exact cause of death will be known when the post-mortem report reaches us, ”The Telegraph quoted a senior Lake Police officer as saying.
“She was getting her food through app-based delivery platforms for some time. He used to spend time with his pet dog. Neighbors said she did not mix with anyone in the town. We are trying to find out who would visit the house for some work. The details of his call are being scanned to see if he was in danger and if he had received food from outside in the last 24 hours, “added police.
Daughter of the late sitarist Nikhil Bandyopadhyay, Arya had acted in ‘LSD: Love Sex Aur Dhoka’ (2010) and in other films besides ‘The Dirty Picture’ (2011). He had also done some modeling work in Mumbai.
