TS forms panels for vaccine distribution

Committees at the state, district, and mandal levels to study planning and execution, with priority for high-risk groups.

Hyderabad: Preparing for the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine when it becomes available, the Telangana government has formed committees at the state, district and mandal levels for planning and execution, with priority to high-risk groups, followed by others.

The committees would carry out a structured review of all aspects related to the preparation and implementation of the Covid-19 vaccination, a government order said.

The Committee’s Terms of Reference (ToR), during the preparatory phase, include ensuring the active participation of the “line departments” for various activities related to the introduction of the vaccine, among others.

The panel’s various terms of reference include oversight of overall micro-planning and other operational aspects of the vaccine introduction.

The GO said that prioritization of high-risk groups should be done as it was anticipated that initially, supply would be limited, in view of the high demand.
Later, the other groups would be included, said the GO dated December 11.

Given the potential for the introduction of the Covid-19 vaccine to span over a year with the inclusion of multiple groups sequentially, starting with healthcare workers, it was important to create a robust advisory and implementation mechanism at the state, district and mandal, he said. .

The government thus formed the State Steering Committee, the State Task Force, the District Task Force, and the Mandal Task Force.

The Chief Secretary would be the president of the State Steering Committee, while the State Working Group would be headed by the Secretary of Health. The District Collector would be the Chair of the District Task Force, while the Mandal Task Force would be chaired by the Mandal Parishad Development Officer.
